Ashton, Gabbidon, Dyer, Parker and Upson On The Way Out

GZ has said he wants a 20/21 man outfield squad, which must pretty much come down to two players for each position, so where are these two new South Americans intended to fit in? We are currently short of a first choice right back and striker and back up left back, defensive midfielder and striker. We've landed a right sided midfielder where we already have Behrami and an attacking midfielder, where we have Noble, Savio, Dyer and Stanislas. So who's going to play where and who is on the move?

I can see Behrami covering the defensive midfield spot, I think it may well turn out to be his best position, so will we take the money for Parker if it's forthcoming?

And what about Noble? Could there be some truth in the rumour? Or has GZ come to the conclusion that many of us have; that Dyer will probably never make a telling claret and blue contribution? If he has then he may have come to the same conclusion about Ashton and Gabbidon. That would mean we also need another striker and centre back. With Upson on his way too, we could see a very different squad next year.

Mind you, that can't be Ashton, Dyer or Gabbidon on that exit sign; the guy is running!

I think Behrami will play RB as he has for Lazio in the past. I think once all the squad are fit young players who did well when came in like Stanizlas will be loaned out along with the likes of Sears etc. I think he will play 1 up front for most games with either Cole or Ashton as the focal point then the likes of Noble, Parker, Collison as a central 3 & Dyer 2 new Inter guys & savio being the options for the attacking 2 behind. Boa Morte, Upson, will be sold.

Why on earth is this drivel allowed to be posted out?

You're a complete idiot and this blog is a joke

You are an absolute stooge. Ashton is going nowhere - tristan and di michele have already left so to get rid of ashton would leave us effectively with only cole. Mancini started his career at RB and was a stalwart in the roma defence until spelleti took over from capello who moved him further up the park. Hopefully he will play in an advanced position though because it seems this is where he is most dangerous.

god you post some utter tripe.

Your a tit. You really are. The last thing we need is negative rumors flying around like this but you never seem to fail me. How old are you by the way? I have visions of some spotty 17 year old in his room, smoking out his window, playing championship manager, knocking one out and dreaming up shite....

mancini can play right bk an jimenez upfront in the ddm role so does that not make sense? mancini wud be gd at rb cos all our attacks came from illunga last season.

Hay hammersfan, you have no friends and nobody likes you.

I think you need to do your maths again mate, two players for every position, that's four forwards, four full backs, four centre halves, four wingers, four central midfielders and two goal keepers.

u r retarded in the mind do u know that u still don't know anything about west ham or the players who play for west ham

Behrami's best position is right back/wing back - although he can play on the right of midfield which he was doing very well before he got injured!

It is an interesting scenario that Zola faces with the players he already has and wants to bring in.

I honestly think last year we lacked that certain little sparkle from Midfield that can change a game and our forward line was lacking in depth to pose any real danger to defences, so I can see the two Inter boys fitting in well. Remember Zola knows these players from his connections and time in Serie A so expect the wingers to swap sides and also cut in!

Zola and Clarke have the squad from pre season so players such as Ashton and Gabbidon will be seen for the 1st time and will be judged whether they fit into their long terms plans!

No doubt our players love playing for the club, the management and for each other. I think at the most Upson will stay at least another year to see where Zola and Clarke take the team, I for one am very excited about this season - I don't think there has been for years a great buzz and feeling about what we can do this year, regardless of who owns us!

1011, you might be retarded, as you do not seem to understand that the words "in the mind" are redundant.

0834, because we don't live in Iran, China or North Korea. It is the same reason why I allow you to post your inane comments. Freedom of speech I think it is called.

Mancini has not played at right back for the last 6 or 7 years. I am willing to bet a lot of money that he will only be used there in a dire emergency. If recruited, it is as an attacking option - the weakness identified by Zola!

Behrami did not work as a right back. Curbishley tried that and Zola ditched the experiment, preferring even Faux Pas in that position. Some of you guys can't even remember back to the start of last season!

The anger and invective are so childish. Please note, I am NOT the author of the article but I wouldn't be surprised if the author is correct - if we can find anybody willing to take on Dyer's, Ashton's, Gabbidon's and Parker's BUPA bills!

The club are reading this blog. See how quickly they have issued a denial? But do you remember this time last year when we were told there would be no sales unless Curbishley approved them? Then out went Anton, Linda, and Turds in a huff. But some of you idiots still believe the Official Site!

It's exactly this type of shit that the club have to come out and give a statement in the first place! You really are full of it, and you call yourself an Irons fan. You sure you just aren't a Daily Mail journo in disguise??? Stop posting crap that doesn't exist. The people who are now running the club aren't the same jack-asses who used to run the club, ie; Brown and Co. They aren't about to sell people left, right and center. It makes no financial sense! They are here to make sure THEY MAKE A PROFIT when it comes to sell the club on. You really don't know what you are talking about do you...

Hammersfan said...

No Graham, they are not the same people, they are effectively the Receivors. And what do receivors do if they can't find a buyer? They sell off the assets!

Mind you, some of us doubt whether Beano Ashton and Dyer are assets!

I think Jimenez and Mancini coming in (if in deed they are), suggest that Zola & Clarke are going to revert to a three prong attack, a la Barcelona/ Chelsea style...
If that is the case then they have one striker and cover for that position in Ashton and Cole... If that's not where they're going with this then I would say that they're buying to many midfielders and need to concentrate on the obvious strikers and defenders that we short on.... They couldn't go wrong with Pavylchenko or Bent....

Selling off the assets would make no sense at all. Anybody with half a business brain can see that.

They've already stated very clearly and recently - they'll manage the club as it is by continuing with the 'project' and management team (Nani, Dux, Zola & SC) and grow it organically where possible so that when the economic crisis settles in a year or so they'll be able to sell on at a reasonable price and profit.

The only real threat to this is this meeting in August with the creditors...

Hammersfan said...

Hotshot mate, Pavolva and Bent would cost money. What people seem to be overlooking is that the two signings, if they have happened, are on loan. We are looking at Sturridge on a Bosman and Bates who is out of contract. There is a pattern emerging here! Kovac? They want money for him! Meanwhile, Upson has his house on the market and there are rumours about Noble leaving. Hope this isn't what it could be construed to be!

I think whatever happens on the transfer market, we are looking for more creative play this year and between a top 6-8 finish... What we really need is for a wealthy business to buy into the club, fefurb the ground and pump in about 100 million....

Hotshot mate, I'd be happy to stay as we have always been, little old West Ham, bringing through kids, picking up the odd lower mid range signing, taking on the Prem like a hard up Eastender having a night out up West. I don't want to be the next Chelsea, Unreal City or Tootatthem. Let's retain our soul, even if it means being nailed to our own crossed hammers!

"Hay hammersfan, you have no friends and nobody likes you."

That made me chuckle! Maybe they've realised that the swearing and threats won't work so they'll go for childishness instead!

I've even had one saying "Your Mum" to me Apache mate. It is incredible how juvenile some of these guys are! And they seem to believe it might upset me! They should check out what was said about me on the org!!!!

Sorry Hammersfan, I can't agree with your comment about little old west ham. I would love to see us making our mark and challenging for honours, something we haven't done in 22 years, and that doesn't man we need to sell our soul to do so. Noble is going nowhere and I would be surprised if Upson does without an international class CB replacement. I think GZ will spend the money he has wisely, and he does have money. I am tired of people who seem to be happy with mediocrity when we should be looking to get beyond that: Premiership survival is not good enough anymore.

yet another idiotic and damaging pile of ill thought out tosh by an immature and brainless blogger. yet again hammersfan, if you stand by your comments, why don't you make yourself known to the rest of us outside the ground, if not, or you yet again ignore this comment, it'll confirm 2 things to the rest of us that we've known for some time. 1: that you really are a spotty little 17 year old with no friends who'd run a mile at the sight of a real fan and... 2: that you've never actually gone to a game. we all await your answer.

Hammersfan I think you'll have to admit that a blog post with the title "Ashton, Gabbidon, Dyer, Parker and Upson On The Way Out" - as if it's all a done deal, but which is not based on any sort of fact is just inflammatory. You can't be surprised at some of the comments being posted. Do you want this to be a well respected blog or are you just looking to drive as much traffic here as possible?

You must be one sad and lonely person to keep coming up with this rubbish. Stop posting already. You're wind ups are tiresome at best. You're rebuttals are beyond trivial. Give it a rest!

Hammersfan, I for one want to say that you do have friends, that many people like you and you are not a tit. Plus not a stooge or mentally handicapped.

And don't you let those meanies get you down! Unhappy as children, many of them feel alienated as adults. Often they will run with a bad crowd, and express their hostilities in inappropriate ways. Or withdraw into unhealthy fantasy lives. Usually this sort of antisocial behaviour is a cry for help, and shows how sorely our social services need more support. These poor souls need a kind word, a caring heart. THESE POOR SOULS NEED LOVE.

come on you irons

Looked in this morning to find myself headlining and attracting the usual "you can't be a proper hammer" rubbish. All I'm doing is collating the available information and asking the questions that arise. GZ has said that he wants 20/21 outfield players but neither of the two proposed signings fill any of the 5vacant posts.

Mancini must surely play as a wide mid. and Jimenez is a creative mid. So where does that leave Behrami? He must surely be a first choice, but not RB, so where does he play?

There has been speculation about Parker and Upson and given their wages and age it's not surprising. I think both players have an exemplary attitude and in an ideal world I would keep both. Their injury history however, makes me feel that if the right offer is there we should take it. Upson I especially like, Parker for me is full of passion and endeavour, but he too often runs into space which he should pass into and consequently makes Noble look a lesser player.

With the small squad that we aspire to we just cannot afford a bunch of sick-notes, which while it puts a question mark against Parker and Upson, surely opens the exit door Dyer if Jimenez comes.

Ashton? Again, his wages and injury prone past, suggest to me that if the right offer came in we would take it. He's a good player, not as good as he thinks he is, but will he ever be fit and can we take a chance on him breaking down again? Gabbidon was excellent two years ago but I don't think many of us think he will come back.

So where does that leave us? We still have to fill five squad places, but if these two sign it will leave us with two players more than we claim to want. So who leaves and where does Behrami play?

I have serious concerns about a small squad which contains Dyer, Gabbidon, Ashton, Upson, Parker and to a certain extent Collins. Our very existance as a club depends on not propping up the table at the end of October. If that were to happen the "asset stripping" option starts to rear it's ugly head. The owners are only interested in maximising their investment and it is likely that if we are not doing too well they will feel that they don't want to throw good money after bad.

On an amusing note to end, they say that immitation is greatest form of flattery. Plymouth Hammer on West Ham Mad has taken to signing himself "el martillo ingles" ! Cheeky bastard.
