Well Said Zola. Tottenham v West Ham Preview.

Really pleased to read Zola's comments on our treatment of ex players. Nice Guy Zola told the Disney channel,

"Obviously, I will always have a special place in my heart for Chelsea. The reception I had from the fans at Stamford Bridge when I went back as West Ham manager last season was amazing and it would be good if others supporters could look at that and realise booing old players is not so productive."

He continued,

"Maybe the West Ham fans will continue to boo Frank Lampard as they tend to do, but I think it is time to stop all of this. If someone takes a different career path, you have to accept it and I hope everyone does this with Frank and me from now on."

Of course, there is little prospect that the fans will relent on the campaign of hatred directed at The Foe. Mind you, thus far, friendlies apart, it has been pretty successful with the little Judas missing two penalties against us since his defection.

On the whole, however, these "hate campaigns" are counter productive. Look at how Tevez responded to our warm hugs the first time he returned to Upton Park with Manchester United. The crossed hammers signs brought tears to every eye in the house, including the Argentinian's, and he played as if he had blurred vision all game. Contrast that with Lamps who revels in the abuse and scores for fun against us.

Defoe has already been talking about how he is going to shove our abuse down our throats. Perhaps we should destabilise him by greeting him with a Jermaine Defoe Love Fest? Pictures of Jesus hugging Judas perhaps? We love you Jermaine banners all around the ground? Welcome home Jermaine signs? "Tie a Yellow Ribbon" playing as he runs out on the pitch? It's a thought.

No seriously as a spurs supporter, i can see us both doing well this year. We'll do well in the league and you spammers will do well to stay up. Pathetic biffs.

Wouldn't it be funny to hear 30,000 Spammers singing cum-ba-ya me lord.....
instead of fcuk off Defoe, LOL, the players wouldnt know what hit em, both sets, LOL
Ill be happy with a point at Upton park, hope we win but a point would be a decent result too.

Taking Zola's comments on face value I agree with him, but Ferguson came out and said after our Home game with United that he was impressed with our supporters after the reception all our Ex players got from the home crowd.

Rio
Tevez
Carrick

All got standing ovations and rightly so for what they did for our great club and will always be fondly remmebered as does Joe Cole and others. Sadly the fat Pilsbury dough boy of chelsea and Judas that is the little scab defoe deserve nothing more than hostility, our treatment of our previous playing royalty proves we are not a nasty aggresive fan base as some would have everyone believe it is just that with our devotion to the team we expect a little respect and that is what defoe, Lampard and Ince will never understand. OK I can in some way defend Defoe in as much as saying he was young and maybe badly advised but that is all he needs to come out and say. Although having said that I have a mate who is a Charlton supporter and when we got him he said "mark my words he will do the same to you" and he did.

1550, did you not spot the wink? That was wink, not a typo, I'm not talking about Spector!

The Intertoto cup? Seriously? The tournament where there was not an actual final (but 3 different finals as 3 teams got places), and qualification is by not qualifying for Europe properly???

A tournament that teams actually used to turn down the chance to enter even though they had qualified for it....?

Even Newcastle don't claim that as a trophy!

Of all the Wets Spam and Spurs cross over threads this is by far the most polite and most refreshing too!!
Saying that I hope you get dry humped by Defoe and our many attacking wonders, it ll all depend on Sgt Wilson making Parker look like a fool.

The League Cup, really? The competition where even Stoke City play their reserves in the early rounds and where Arsenal enter their under 15 team and continue to pick it all the way through to the semifinal?

Hammersfan said...

Cheers Christian, mind you I hope we stuff your mob on Sunday!

Yes Hammersfan. The League Cup. The cup which West Ham play a full strength team in and still fail miserably in every season.

Last season we rested Green, Cole, Ilunga, Bellamy, Parker and Behrami at Watford. We lost 1-0 (thanks to a Mullins own goal) with half a team. Lastpickeva made his only start in goal, Lopez his only start at left back, Kyel Reid came on and Sears made a rare start. I don't think Zola and Clarke regarded it as a priority somehow. Me? I suffered the dubious delights of Watford to see our inept performance,

Odd isn't it?

West Ham Utd are supposedly not even on the radar of spurs fans - and yet on this thread here we have a whole pile of bile, bitterness and derision from spurs fans aimed at West Ham. I thought spurs fans did not see us as rivals? I've been told that spurs fans don't care about the result against West Ham? Wouldn't have thought it though would you.

Same old spurs fans - already telling us how it's gonna be before a ball is kicked. It's always what you're "going to do", isn't it boys. With the money you've been spending (nearer £200m than £100m isn't it)and the crap state you got yourselves into - took the cultured West Ham footballing brain of 'Arry to sort you out. Where would the game be without the Hammers.

Lets see what happens on Sunday spurs fans - should be a good game. Come on you Irons - about time we got something out of this london derby.
