Upson Left High And Dry At West Ham

Doesn't your heart just bleed for him? Just before Christmas it looked odds on that Upson was off to Unreal City, Tottenham or Liverpool. City were leaking more at the back than a ninety five year old granny, 'Arry was rumoured to be looking to refresh his squad and Benitez was said to be keen on our captain. But now it has all gone quiet.

A new manager at City means new ideas on who should be recruited apparently and Upson is no longer the number one target. In any case, a little bit of organisation has resulted in a much tighter defence with the present personnel. Levy came out and made it clear that 'Arry had to sell before he could buy. And the extent of Liverpool's financial problems became clear.

So for the time being at least, Upson appears to be going nowhere. The worry is, that he may still yet move but with City out of the bidding war, his price will drop. That may explain the quiet start to the window, with other clubs waiting for Unreal City to do their business first, so fees and salaries can return to realistic levels.

So Matty may leave yet but, for the moment, he is stranded on the desert island of West Ham.

In my eyes Upson and Green owe the club more than they realise and a bit of loyalty wouldn't go a miss! Afterall, we took a chance on them and pulled them out of the Championship, which in turn resurrected their International careers.

I think on current form, no top four club would be looking at a 6ft+ centreback who gets beat in the air by Eduardo !!!

That takes me back to Shilton and Maradona.

I'm sure his agent's doing overtime. Do you think deep down he wishes he stayed at Birmingham?

Chance to go 13th if our game goes ahead on Sunday. Burnley's is postponed, Wigan got Villa and Blackburn got City on Monday.

I'm off to clear the streets by the ground. Feel free to join me.

Sorry Dave but I'm not going to get excited about a Talk Sport report. Should be renamed Talk Bullshit in my opinion! But hope you are right!
