West Ham Imploding - Cracks widening by the day!

I blogged yesterday about the danger of Diddy David shouting his mouth off and now Zola has expressed concern at Sullivan's latest remarks. Not content with announcing that relegation would see financial Armageddon at the club, the dynamic dwarf has well and truly put his dildo in his mouth with a public announcement that EVERYBODY at the club is overpaid and will need to take a pay cut in the summer.

Now leaving aside the stupidity of this comment because of the little matter of contracts of employment, there is the question of how this will effect morale at the club. We play Birmingham tomorrow evening and I wonder how much time was taken out of training today with players moaning about pay cuts being announced through the press. I'm not sure who the players' spokesman is at the moment - Upson presumably - but you can bet your life that he had severe ear-ache within five minutes of arriving at the training ground.

How does Collison feel today? He is a full international and is apparently fancied by Arsenal - and he is rumoured to be on just £4k per week. He could quadruple that salary if he were to join the Wenger Boys! Then there is Green. He is looking for a huge pay RISE but now knows he will have to go elsewhere to get it. He can buy out his contract in the summer for just £1.5m. What would you do in his boots given Sullivan's ill advised ejaculation today? Parker has been sweating blood for the team all season. Will he feel like taking a shot full in the face for a peddler of porn who thinks he is earning too much? And what about Carlton Cole? He is in the England squad and has been linked with Juve, Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool over the last 12 months. Overpaid? Well, he might just decide to test that theory out by requesting a transfer and seeing what he can negotiate elsewhere!

The comments were so stupid that even Zola has broken ranks. Mr Nice Guy has made a stand and described Sullivan's comments as "unhelpful". Remember Zola remained silent when Bellamy was sold - and that was certainly unhelpful! Zola kept his counsel when Collins was allowed to leave - and that was unhelpful! Zola kept mum when his captain Neill departed - and that was unhelpful! Zola did not raise objections when we failed to sign another striker before the August window slammed shut - and that was unhelpful! Zola maintained the charade over Ashton - and that was unhelpful! It takes a lot to make Gianfranco speak out against his employers - but Diddy David has managed to so overstep the mark that even Zola has had to protest. I suspect that he would have lost the players completely had he not done so!

These are dangerous times for Zola and by Thursday he could be out of work. By speaking out against Sullivan, he has stepped well and truly into the firing line. West Ham fans are talking about Birmingham as if they are easy opponents but one glance at the Premiership table tells a different story. They have lost just 5 games on their travels all season and have conceded a modest 16 goals in 11 games away from home. Their recent victory in the Cup at Everton shows that they are very far from push overs. Looked at objectively, the game has 0-0, 1-1 or 0-1 written all over it! Should we fail to win, and our rivals capitalise on winnable games, we could find ourselves sinking closer to Pompey and further adrift of safety. Zola would then be on very thin ice and Sullivan may well be wielding an ice pick!

Cue The Stranglers' classic, "Whatever happened to / Gianfranco Zola?"

So why is today's post sensible but yesterday's about Sullivan wasn't? I was ahead of the game yesterday! It took Zola a day to catch up with this blog!

they want him to walk - it's cheaper than sacking the man - they are out to undermined him and the team, they want us to go down, sell the players recoup their 50M - go bust, lose the debt, buy the club for £1 (sound familiar?) employ championship players on less money, rent the Olympic stadium, sell the Boleyn to developers (of which Sullivan is one), stabilise the club, sell up for a fat profit, happy days for them, not alas for us.

I think Zola was put in a very difficult position by what Sullivan came out with. Zola has said probably as much as he is able to and I think it needed to be said.

From the first press conference I was concerned at the way Sullivan was talking. The fact that Gold and Brady haven't managed to rein him in means they think he is doing nothing wrong. Add Brady's West Ham Olympic comment and Gold's 4-4-2 comment to that, and it means we have three clowns running us, not one.

This is the best post you have ever written and I 100% agree, sullivan is a big mouth and it was his mouth that opened and let redknapp know about gudjohnson so he could come in and steal the player right under our noses, i said at the beginning I didn't trust sullivan and i still don't, he stands to make a lot of money if we tear down upton park, that's a large site to rent out to businesses and little rent to pay at the olympic and when he's got our squad down to short contracts and loanee's he'll be off, leaving some beleaguered investors knowing that they bought 100% off his loan and he gained a 50% share for 0 and sold them back a club they already paid for, just like in the 80's when the conservatives privatized everything off we already paid for out of income tax,I can see him doing it with shares at West Ham, this of course is all farcical, isnt it? I am not fallign for any of his woe is me I'm doing it out of love, poppyCOCK

Bencanfixit, now you're at it! Don't you know you can't criticise the club if you support West Ham? Everything in the garden is rosy! Put on those claret and blue glasses, ignore the Premiership table, disregard the debts, pretend Sullivan hasn't yet opened his mouth and everything is wonderful! If you try REALLY hard, you can convince yourself that losing at Burnley on Saturday was, in fact, a superb performance!

What a motivator! If you win the game, if you beat relegation, I will reward you with a huge pay cut!!! Is this the guy who will drive the club forward? No way! I am sorry but the man is an idiot to put it kindly. We were criticizing Zola on tactics and now that pales into insignificance. What's more it gives Zola the excuse he was looking to say it wasn't really my fault! It is obvious that what is of real importance for the new owners is the summer sale. Nothing else!

Club cant afford to get rid of him so they/he figure mouthing off in public might do the trick.
It must be working though because everytime I read comments from him I break another glass in my kung-fu grip.

F*** it, Sullivan isn't taking any crap and I really don't blame him. You lot are complaining as if the players actually deserve their wages! When was the last time someone had any balls at Upton park? I was complaining when there was a lack of caring ownership at the club, and the lack of information given to the fans, Sullivan is saying everything and I for one love it! How on earth would some of you feel if you bought a club, expecting a bit of momentum and getting 2 points from 9 against clubs we should be beating everytime? Dyer is our highest earner according to football manager! Last point, people like Collison and cole obviously won't get their wages decreased, as they are not overpaid in accordance to their work rate, Sullivan isn't stupid!
