The state of play with Collison, Ilunga and Diamanti

Does anybody know for sure? There were rumours that Collison and Ilunga might make it for the Everton game, but there was also a counter rumour that Collison needs a knee op and is out for the rest of the season. As for Diamanti, some say he had a knock, whilst others insist he was dropped. And Ilunga? He is always "nearly ready" but then doesn't show up on the day. What a turn around on last season when he was ever present in the Prem. This season it has been one injury after another. Anything to do with having a permanent contract I wonder?

It is hard to believe that Diamanti was left out altogether. I called for him to be used in the hole against Everton and you have to think he would have done a better job than Mido - especially with the penalty. If he was dropped altogether then that suggests a falling out with the management.

Anyway, they all have another few days to prepare for the Sunderland game. I would love to see Ilunga and Collison return in harness on the left, Stanislas retained on the right, Noble moved in to centre midfield and Ilan included at the expense of Midiocre. And maybe Dyer will fancy another 45 minutes? I mean, he must need the appearance money!

"I called for him to be used in the hole against Everton...." who did you call, as it was obviously they didn't listen?

I heard something about Collison having the same injury as Hines.
I don't think we'll see him again this season myself.

Zola himself said that he left Diamanti behind with a groin problem...probably didn't want to aggravate the injury, what with our run-in. So it seemed best to save him for Sunderland.

As for Ilunga...who knows. I feel really dissapointed that he's missed this much of the season. I think with a steady back four of Faubert, Da Costa, Upson, Ilunga, we would have conceeded half the goals we have this season!

The good news about Ilunga's injury is that move to Liverpool isn't on the cards this summer! And hopefully he'll have a good season next year.

I was wondering what happenned to these three (which I consider vital) myself. Thanks for putting this post up. I hope that Collison is not sufferring from a serious injury. It will be really good news if we see any of them in the team next Saturday. GZ please don't spoil again by selecting any of the usual dinoraurs you seem to have a soft spot for.

Anybody else heard anything similar

Mido by a mile! Big and strong and eats more kebabs in a week than Messi would get through in a lifetime!

I heard that Collison has never fully recovered from dislocating his knee cap last season and will have surgery in the off-season to repair the problem. He's probably only available on an emergency basis.
I also heard that Hinds has a micro fracture that can't be fixed surgically and only responds to a long period of rest.
Zola might have been covering for Diamanti when he said he had a groin problem. The match announcers simply said he was dropped. His work rate has been questioned, especially when he plays in front of the defensively-suspect Jonathan Spector. West Ham will need him to work hard at both ends of the pitch during the last five matches.
Ilunga has been perhaps the biggest disappointment of the season for me. I thought he was the Hammer of the Year last term. The club desperately need him back as Spector is so inconsistent and was at least partially to blame for both goals against Everton.
