West Ham Team For Wigan

The knee jerk response after that shocking performance at Liverpool is, shoot the lot of them. Upson was awful; drop him. Spector was useless; drop him. Cole was virtually anonymous; drop him. Kovac only completed one forward pass all game; drop him. Noble did nothing; drop him. Behrami never made it into the final third of the pitch; drop him. Stanislas couldn't get a corner above ankle height of the first defender; drop him. Green's distribution was even worse than usual; drop him. Ilan never managed a shot all game; drop him. Faubert can stay because we don't expect that much and he didn't disappoint; no, sod it, drop him.

Da Costa can stay, he at least looked like he WANTED to be out there!

But of course, we can't drop all of them. If we did, we might have to pick Mido!

No, somehow we have to make a silk purse out of the sow's ears that Duxbury, Nani and Zola have collected together in what is laughably called a Premiership squad. This ensemble of recorder players, maracas shakers and triangle tinklers were going to orchestrate our bid for a European tour at the start of the season if you remember. What a joke!

So what do we do? Is Ilunga available? Is Ilunga still alive anybody? He's probably still well enough to bank the salary but he doesn't seem too anxious to get out on the pitch. Unless he has upset Zola too!

Diamanti anybody? What has happened there then? Something stinks. Ilan says the Italian speaking players are out of control and simultaneously Diamanti is dropped or left out with a mystery injury. You don't have to be Hercule Poirot do you? But Zola must not be allowed to endanger our Premiership status by leaving out our second highest scorer. I don't care if there has been an argument, we need Diamanti so Zola can swallow his bloody pride. Hopefully he might choke on it!

What about the left back berth? Well, ironically, Spector played well in the last home game against Sunderland. The trouble is, the Wigan players like to run with the ball and, if at left back, I can see Spector giving away a penalty. Based on that challenge in the box against Liverpool, we also need to avoid Behrami tackling in our penalty area! Full back? No chance! If Diamanti plays on the left, we need a proper left back, so I suppose that means Daprela. Zola has used him as a sub in the last two games! Parker returns so Zola has the following selection choices:

1) Who does Parker replace?
2) Who plays at left back?
3) Who plays up front alongside Cole?
4) Does Diamanti return?

I expect to see the following team:

Green
Faubert, Da Costa, Upson, Spector
Noble, Kovac, Parker, Behrami,
Franco, Cole

My team would read:

Green
Faubert, Da Costa, Upson, Daprela
Behrami, Noble, Parker,
Diamanti
Franco, Cole

What ever team Zola picks, we desperately need to win. Hull WILL beat Sunderland today. Hull will get a point at Wigan. And Hull may well get a point at home to Liverpool. We need to stay 3 points ahead of them today. Still, if we desperately need a goal with ten minutes to play, Zola could always send on Boa and Mido!

And if we do win and Bent puts Sunderland to the sword, I will have the best Saturday night I've had all season: the wife has been warned to expect a very personal version of the London Marathon. Never mind Kashmire, cue the Ride of the Valkyries!

I expect Wigan to roll over against Hull if Wigan beat us. They know if Hull beat them we are practically down (if Wigan beat us that is)

Let's hope Zola selects a good team.
Last season in the final run Boa showed his quality and played pretty well in my opinion. Sure, nobody knows how fit Luis is and if he is already fit enough for the first team. But I would rather like to see Boa on the left who is able to put the ball into the box with his left foot!

Green
Faubert Da Costa Upson Daprela
Behrami Parker Boa Morte
Diamanit
Cole Ilan

That would be my line-up.

COYI!

Good line-up HAMM3R. I would probably swap Ilan for Franco as he's in the game more and more influential in general play. Could always bring Ilan on. I would also seriously consider dropping Upson if Gabbidon is fit.

H said...

Thx - I thought about an Ilan-Franco swap, too ;)
Just chose Ilan because there would be Diamanti behind the two strikers who is able to serve Ilan and Coley great balls. And Ilan knows his job in the box quite well.

I like that team as well H4MM3R.Just hope BOA MORTE is fit.

Yep, I just think with Franco pulling the strings, it will free up Diamanti and allow him to concentrate on going for goal more rather than creating as his primary asset is his shooting and he is our 2nd top scorer.

I think Boa, though not fully fit, will get some minutes Essex but coming on rather than starting probably. It's clear he is determined to have some impact as he was asked in his latest reserve game if he wanted to come off but insisted on the full 90 so I think that tells us a lot.

Good to see him back though.

wow wot a shit line up no atatcking threat at all

Yep, right about Spector, liability has scored on own goal, however didn't see it, so might be an unfair comment.

H4MM3R said...

Kovac and Specs at their best...sloppy passes and sloppy defending. So poor...

HT looks promising :)

2 - 1 Hammers & 0 -1 to Sunderland

So, was it a handball ? 2-2 ... =[

Stani Army said...

I think it's Diamanti time!

Kareem,
Did seem as though he handled it although the pic was a bit fuzzy. With Watson's corner leading to the first goal apparently not being in the quadrant, we've had two bad decisions against us.

You boys worry too much, honestly! :) I'm going to sleep....until August

Lately, I seem to agree too much with Stani. I would also swap Ilan to Franco from HF's eleven. When I saw Spector in team again I just couldn't beleive it. When he scored an own goal with almost his first touch I really wanted to come over and kill Zola. What does it take to make him understand that some players just don't cut it? It is really depressing to have blind loyalty from the manager to some players despite horrible performances from them. This is the main reason I want to see Zola walk.

Having said that, I am ecstatic with our win and who more fitting to score the goal that will keep us up than Scottie? I am therefore flying to London tomorrow to celebrate with you guys. I will probably not be posting much but I will be a lot more nearer to you physically as well as in spirit.

What a releif, we really need to sort our house before the next year begins. Yes, HF, I know that mathematically we are not saved yet, but come on, even you will concede it is impossible for Burnley to win their remaining three games. COYI!!!

We were bossed by Wigan but hey we scored 3 goals and we deserve to stay up now I say.

I dont see why all the players were hugging zola tho. Hes damaged their careers this year with his shoddy game planning.

Absolutely great news, tension replaced by happiness can't be bad.
Do wonder why we paid 5 million Diamanti and don't play him, presumably he is who we lost Collins for.3 million for McCarthy who obviously wants to play has definitely got class but doesn't get a look in, and the mystery of Ilunga just who we need at left back but also doesn't get a look in
Zola should give us some answers about this.

Sav,
Stop brown-nosing Stani ;)

Hammalot,
Come here, I'll give you a hug

H4MM3R said...

I think Diamanti was probably dropped because of a team-intern incident...
I just hope, he'll stay at West Ham and is able to show his full quality next year when he plays in the correct position!

Was a hard way to go through this season but it's gladly as good as done...

Hull had themselves to blame. So many missed chances to capitalise on our mistakes.

We need to be truly thankful that there were two dreadful teams below us or otherwise we would of been down by now.

It kind of shows you how bad the team and Zola have been this season. MANY things have to change from now on or we will see the same next season.

LOL 1219, well done for spotting the typo. But who scored the goal that put Hull to the sword? Bent.
