Are We In Sullivan & Gold Dreamland?

What is going on at Upton Park? I know they are only rumours but the rumours are now pretty persistent and pretty consistent. A few months ago we were broke, indeed facing financial Armageddon no less. Now we have apparently told Villa where to stick their £10m bid for Parker whilst wading in with improved bids for Remy, Nemar and Dorrans. There's talk of £16m bids flying around. What is going on?

Now there are three possible explanations for this. The first is that Sullivan and Gold are playing silly buggers and taking us for mugs. The club are trying to sell season tickets at the moment and so it makes perfect sense to chuck in a few big money bids, knowing that they won't be accepted anyway, in order to dupe fans in to parting with hard earned cash, thinking they are going to see a team of superstars.

The second possibility is that the debt was not as bad as S&G were making out and that the new Sky deal, with the parachute payments, has given us much more scope to trade in the transfer market than we were originally led to believe. Add in revenue generated from the sale of Cole, Behrami, Upson and Green, and maybe we do have £30m plus to play with.

The third possibility is that Sullivan & Gold have seen the Muppets Christmas Carol and realised that they can't take their ill earned wealth with them. Maybe Marley Sullivan has turned to Scrooge Gold and said, "You know what, these West Ham fans deserve better. Why don't we give them a year to remember?"

It doesn't sound terribly probable I know, but, well maybe, just maybe, Sullivan and Gold GENUINELY support the club and want us to succeed!
