D Day At The Boleyn!

By the end of today, we could have a clearer picture of what is going on behind the scenes at Upton Park. So far thus summer it has been nothing but good news - four signings, no sales and three friendly victories on the bounce. Then there are the rumours linking us with Remy and Old Uncle Ronaldhino and all!

But all along there has been an air of unreality, a suspicion that there might be more to all this than meets the eye. Not so long ago we were facing financial Armageddon and were desperate to reduce the wage bill. Next thing you know and we are linked with a host of players who would want six figure salaries to join us. Where is the new money coming from?

The papers found a Russian billionaire living in London and fingered him as the new financial benefactor, even though there had been no contact between him and S&G. Then there was the suggestion that the Davids had decided they couldn't take their money with them and so had decided to have a bit of fun before they met their maker. Hmmmmm. That would be some conversion on the road to Damascus!

So, there was this nagging worry that players would be sold. It wouldn't be Parker of course, nobody could afford him. And Cole would only go if somebody stumped up £15m. Fair enough we thought, and the naive amongst us listed players who would be sold, including Dyer and Spector on the wish lists - as if ANYBODY would BUY them! Yes Upson might go, and so might Green, but who would want them after the World Cup anyway?

Well hopefully it is newspaper bullshit, but a story was floated yesterday, claiming that BOTH Parker and Cole are heading for the exit door. If that story runs through today, then we may have a truer idea of what S&G are up to. If Diamanti, Da Costa and Kovac also leave, then our glorious summer may yet be made a winter of discontent by these sons of porn.

I am not condemning the Davids yet. I don't believe the Parker and Cole story because a combined figure of £20m was mentioned. It is my guess that £20m was quoted to Villa for Parker alone. The "double deal" may be a confusion with the more probable joint sale of Kovac and Diamanti to Olympiakos.

Personally, I would like us to stick with our present squad. S&G have played their cards superbly so far. Why twist when you may having a winning hand? Well, there's money in them hills perhaps!

Meanwhile, there are rumours of medicals planned for today. By midnight tonight, we may just have a handle on what is really going on. My fingers are crossed!

The only suggestion that the Davids had decided they couldn't take their money with them.... was made by you - I suspect their family and employees would have something to say about that! and you can't wait to condemn the Davids because lets face it, you do it so well and of course that's what's the blog is about,. in fact it's about little else.

Nonsense. I have never suggested that the Davids have decided to spend spend spend before they die die die. Nor have I been critical of them. You seem to be confusing me with somebody else! This article doesn't condemn them either.

"winter of discontent" beyond your wildest dreams - eh HF? bet you salivating at the thought

Hammersfan said...

LOL Yeah, I'm really hoping that I waste money watching West Ham lose! Idiot!

10:40 it was Neville Nixon (http://www.westhamfans.org/node/14106) who made the suggestion that Gold was spending the cash whilst he could. I wouldn't normally defend this column because I don't agree with a lot that is written here. I'm more interested in who the fourth player we have signed is? Not seen that anywhere so far.

Hammersfan said...

Well spotted sir! What do you have to say now then 10.40? Your mate Nev!

Hammersfan said...

1054, I'm counting Ben Haim.

To you have any idea who the other medicals that are? I was told by a source that one is Clerc and the other that Argentinian striker. Any further news on that? West Upper.

Hammersfan said...

That's the rumour I've heard.

TurdsOut! said...

Rumour you've heard - hahahaha - don't make me laugh - news now is your only source....... you are pathetic! You don't even have a season ticket - so how the hell do you get rumours?

Anonymous said...

1043 I have seen you suggest the very thing... you obviously copied from elsewhere which is something you do a lot.

Hammersfan said...

Hmmm Turds Out! so News Now doesn't count as rumour? What is it then, fact? Did I say I had a hot line to the club? Did I suggest that the equivalent of Duxbury has whispered pillow secrets to me in return for favours, as Duxbury allegedly did to Dale? Don't think I did!

Doesn't look good for Parker. G&S had begun their media campaign and started leaking little bits in the media in regards to selling Parker a couple of weeks back to soften the blow.

Hammersfan said...

And there's a report now that we have dropped our price for Cole to £10m!

Anonymous said...

Who are the players having medicals today then?

Stani Army said...

Dodgy knee possibly? Or desperate to recoup money before close of window?

Stani, I think the Parker sale rumours are pure conjecture, as well as reports that he now 'wants away'! From what I've seen, Sullivan has only reinforced what he said at the end of last season, and told O'Neill that even if he does flog Milner, he needn't bother coming calling with his windfall because SP is not available!

I envisage Parker forming a great partnership in midfield with Hitz, and I'm looking forward to it!
NO SALE!!

Stani Army said...

They are selling Grant's shirt, the one he wore at the pressy, on the club's ebay site. It was up to £210 the last time I checked! He's signed it and I swear his signature looks like one of those knobs you'd see drawn on a old maths text book.

Brady's chewed bubblegum up for auction tomorrow...

Stani Army said...

I hope so Shaun, but would Sulli say no to £16m plus?

Shaun said...

He has no choice after stating that Parker is simply not for sale.
His new-found popularity would take a rapid dive if he went back on his word now wouldn't it?!

Hammersfan said...

Popularity doesn't carry a price does it Shaun. But his soul, well he's negotiating that away as we speak!

Stani Army said...

They always find a way Shaun. Look how Gold publicly said Zola is our man and they eventually found a way to get rid.

They'll engineer it somehow. What they are trying to do at the moment is begin to give the impression that Parker wants to leave. If that doesn't work, they'll say the money was to good to refuse for someone of his age

Stani Army said...

*too

TurdsOut! said...

"That's the rumour I've heard....." should be a rumour that you've READ... you give the impression that you've contacts that ring you with their rumours - which as we've found out just plainly isn't true

Anonymous said...

10:44 of course you do - you can't wait, you love it when we lose - because you can have a right good old moan up..... it's all your good for.

and how you gonna waste money when you don't even have a season ticket? (another lame excuse, oh my son is working weekends) hahaha - what about your "mates" not that you have any.

Hammersfan said...

As I've said before, my mates dont support West Ham. I know it is odd but there is a world outside Essex. Mind you, I probably am going to buy a season ticket as things stand.

Hammersfan said...

Turds Out!, my son read the article to me! Like I said, that's the rumour I heard! Twat!

TurdsOut! said...

Well if you read as well as your write then I'm not surprised your poor old son has to read to you....

Hammersfan said...

Fair enough!

Nice one HF! Good to see you've learned the rule on arguing with idiots!

I don't still have full confidence in the owners and it really won't surprise me to see two or three of Green, Upson, Parker and Cole gone by next week. I hope I'm wrong though.

As for Remy, whats the point in pursuing him any further? He clearly doesn't want to come to us or there would have been a release from his agent or himself to that effect like when he was linked with Arsenal a few weeks back. Surely the deal would be done by now if he was keen and not holding on for a bigger club. Same thing happened with Chamack last year.

I would much rather keep Cole, a player who has publicly declared his love for the club and the fans and his desire to stay and improve with the club (even after the way he was treated by some 'fans' under Curbishley). He is loyal and players like that are hard to find nowadays.

As long as his knee injury isn't serious he will get better and better and I's hate that to be at Stoke!

Remy will probably improve considerably in the PL too, but we all know that if he's any good he'll be gone in a year.

Hammersfan said...

Spot on Jameson! I'm all in favour of retaining Cole and feeding Remy to the Lyons!
