Strange Mood As Players Return To Training

There must have been a strange mood amongst the players as they reported back for training at Chadwell Heath for the first time since the summer recess. A number must have been looking at each other thinking, "Bloody hell, you're still here!" whilst there's probably a sign up in the changing room saying, "Don't Mention The World Cup!"

"Who is going to be captain?" must be a question on everybody's lips. The excitement at seeing the new, slimmed down McCarthy for the first time must have been palpable. The spread betting on how many games Dyer will start must have livened things up too. "Who will still be here come the start of the season?" must also be a topic of conversation amongst everybody.

How motivated will those rumoured to be on the way out feel? There must be a sense of a false dawn, of the wrong team, almost, turning up for training. Avram will no doubt be weighing up his options and thinking, thank God I don't have to work with this mob for the whole season!

No Zola, no Clarke, no Scotty Duxbury, no Nani but on the playing front, not a lot has changed. For now.

Looking at the pics on the OS, they all looked in a GOOD mood HF!...well, apart from Kieron Dyer, who was cutting a familiar pose, face-down on the treatment table! His face is hidden, so it's difficult to ascertain how much pain he's currently in?!!

Benny McCarthy looks FIT!! Well, it shows Carlton giving him a hug, and it appears he can get his arms round him no problem!

Diamanti looks more like a blonde Australian surf bum than an Italian calciatore!

They're all sporting new yellow Macron training gear too (Avram's in a blue version)...apparently the new Macron kit will be unveiled on 15th July with the home kit to follow?!

You did mean to write fit didn't you Shaun? Looks to me like Carlton's reaching for the fire alarm behind him in that hug with McCarthy picture!

I've always bought the training tops instead of the actual kit tops because they don't have all the shite on them and are generally better designed in my opinion. I must say that the Macron ones look very nice even though I don't usually like yellow. Can't wait to see the kit. They have quite a few designs on their website so I wonder which we went for.

Boy does David Coles look like Bobby Davro! A comedy keeper with a comedian as goalkeeping coach!

14:36 come on old fruit you know no one worth having will sign.... no kieron dyer no freddie ljungberg, no Ian wright, no david beckham and no thierry henry.. just no one will sign - 2010 / 11 will be the same if not worse than 2009 / 10 - you know that and I know that - it won't be long before king whiner HF is back to his best, at least he is reliable and let's be honest it's why you and countless other depressed hammers come here.

yh probably does have a slightly strange mood to the camp, probably a bit more then every team usually has. However I don't think it should affect their morale, all players will probably be most interested in getting themselves fit, for our club or otherwise.

No Umbro? instead we have the Italian firm Macron (meaning tiny) supplying the kit - a Bloody disgrace!!!!!

Mike Ashley has a share in Umbro. We'd be putting money straight into Newcastle's pockets if we continued. The Umbro stuff hasn't been all that anyway.
