The Tottenham offer for Parker was allegedly £7m!

Well bloody hell, no wonder Sullivan rejected the offer out of hand! According to one report on the net, the opening bid from Tottenham was just £7 million! Crikey, although not the greatest fan of Parker, even I would have rejected that offer out of hand!

No wonder Sullivan was able to play Billy Big Balls when the offer was that low, knowing that Villa will be flush with cash after the sale of Milner and Liverpool will be in the market for another midfielder once Mascherano has departed.

As opening gambits go, this Tottenham offer was derisory. Why on earth has Sullivan given it credibility by making his, "I will never betray the fans statement"? It's a bit like me claiming proof of my love for my wife by refusing to trade her for a knackered old camel! (But if anybody has a knackered old camel to trade...)

Sullivan should have ignored the bid completely or said something along the lines of, "Tottenham have made an offer that is utterly derisory. I know 'Arry is in danger of doing time for tax evasion but to compound it by trying to steal one of our players is beneath even him!"

But no, Sullivan has played the superhero because he rejected a joke of an offer. And the consequence? Well, Parker has apparently said he wants to talk to Spurs! Interesting.

I drew a parallel with the sale of Bellamy earlier and do you remember how much Tottenham initially bid for the Welsh whinger? Er £7 million. Like I said earlier, welcome to Groundhog Day!

"Because the ofer was THAT LOW" You are having the crack aren't you? Who do you think Parker is - or has ever been? Maradonna or David Beckham? Be serious, we are talking about a 30 year old player who had his best days at Charlton, couldn't cut the mustard at Chelski and didn't make the England squad. Seven million is very reasonable.

And come off it - Sullivan has messed up big time by coming out with that "promise".
If Parker gets the chance to play European football, let alone Champions League Football, he is going to want to leave. And where will that leave Sullivan in Irons fans eyes? With rather a lot of egg on his face I reckon, especially if Robbie Keane or Jenas may be part of any prospective deal.

COYS!

He's 30. How much more could you expect? I hope he stays with us though.

I've read that 'one report on the net' HF....you're referring to yet another piece of Daily Mail 'spin' on NewsNow!
Let's just say the rag in question has a policy of negative journalism where West Ham are concerned, as well as being somewhat 'economical' with the facts!

A village idiot reading the piece would have realised that it was tenuous at the very least!
"West Ham are locked on a collision course with Scott Parker after flatly rejecting a £7million offer from Tottenham."

Locked on a collision course? Yeah right!
£7 million? Ridiculous!

The £7m bit only serves to indicate the lack of substance behind the whole sorry piece...
...it's not derisory...it's totally un-be-liev-able...because it's pure speculation! A space-filler by some journo hack who's disappointed that the story is now dead in the water! I'm surprised you were taken in by it HF!?

I just watched Grant's post-match interview after the MK Dons friendly and he was asked point blank on the Parker story.
Now, a manager who's been told to stay tight-lipped by his owners may have refused to be drawn.
Not our Avram! He replied instantly and clearly asserted that Parker IS a "big big part" of the future of the club going forward!!

£7m for Parker, Sullivan should have said he'd take £2/3m and O'Hara who is young and English.
What a fool our chairman is, mistake to turn down that amount of money, has he forgot the state of our finances?

It was a piece in the Guardian I read Shaun. I've not seen the Mail story yet. But remember, the Mail is the "rag" that you quoted in relation to the contract extension!

you do known 6 out of your last 10 posts have been about Scott Parker? If he isn't sold do I have permission to slag you off with no stupid response?

Hammersfan said...

If he isn't sold I will run a post entitled "Hammersfan was wrong about Scott Parker" assuming a bid of £10m or higher. Selling at £7m is a complete no brainer of course. Had I known the bid was THAT low, I would have ignored the story, just as Sullivan should have ignored the offer. This isn''t a get out by the way, I expect Villa and or Liverpool to offer more than £10m and I expect Parker to go.

christ!, how much do you think parker is worth then. I wouldnt have gone above £7m either for someone of his age and injury record. Sours should keep the cash and keep ohara who is far better than parker anyway

I have already said that anything above £10m would represnt good business. £9m would make me twitchy if I was Sullivan, especially given Parker's ludicrous wages which are a massive drain on the club's finances.
