Liverpool and Tottenham to bid £18million for Parker

I will believe it when I see it! According to the Metro, West Ham could be tempted by a bid of £18million or above for Parker. Tempted? If I was Sullivan, I would drive Parker to Anfield or White Hart Lane, in a specially spray painted pink Rolls Royce, if either Liverpool or Tottenham were crazy enough to bid anywhere in that region for the nearly England man.

The sooner the Mascherano deal goes through, the better. I expected the Milner sale to ignite the transfer market, but O'Neill's resignation seems to suggest that Randy wants to bank a sizeable proportion of that. Redknapp wants Parker but does he really NEED him THAT much? I doubt it. The only way Tottenham will trade at that level will be on the basis of part exchange / player swaps. I mooted an exchange with Keane. How about Keane and O'Hara?

Liverpool, meanwhile, need Parker because of the Home Grown rule. Thanks to Benitez, they are light on Brits in the squad and so Parker would kill two birds with one stone. But would Woy miscalculate so badly as to pay £18million for an injury prone 30 year old who isn't even good enough for England? I doubt it personally.

It will all come out in the wash over the next three weeks. My money is still on Parker going but not for anything like the reported figure, given Parker's wage demands will make both Boards choke on their jasmine tea. I still reckon £12m will land Parker and I expect one of Liverpool or Tottenham to offer a deal that Gold cannot refuse.

At this time of year I view the endless transfer stories circulating in the press with a jaundiced eye, but once in a blue moon a story appears that takes me by complete surprise and I so desperately want this one to be true!

I can’t really believe it, but supposedly having had an offer of £6 million for The Yak rejected by Everton we have subsequently returned with a bid of £5 million.

Now if this really were to be true, then the Two Davids would assume almost folk hero status as far as I’m concerned. Brilliant! Let’s table another offer tomorrow of £4 million and Friday offer £3 million and so on and so on.

I think this is wonderful. At last, total realism in the transfer market.

All clubs should adopt this policy. Let’s all stop paying ridiculous fees for very average players.

Hopefully we use the parker sale to get rid of the buffoon of a goal keeper we have and maybe add some defensive depth.

The OS has yet again today reiterated that we have 'retained' the services of Parker. Also reports in the press today also state that he has agreed terms on a new four year deal which he'll sign next week.

HF - Why are you still so convinced that he'll leave?

Brilliant if Everton accept it! Zero credibility for the two Davids if they don't I'm afraid. I like the approach. It was used famously by Disney when buying up land for Disneyland. They had bought all but one crucial parcel of land. Disney went into a meeting and was horrified to hear how much was now being offered per acre - more than double what had originally been offered. He instructed his attorney to bid again, but 10% less than was offered last time. His attorney said the land owner would decline the offer but Disney said, "Do it". Next day the attorney rang him and said, "He declined the offer like I said." Disney replied, "Good. Offer him 10% less." The attorney protested but was given a clear instruction. Next day, same call, same Disney reply. "Offer 10% less". The landowner, seeing the price fall every day, suddenly agreed to sell. The attorney requested authority to draw up the contract. Disney replied, "Offer him the original price and tell him to accept it or go shaft himself. We can live in the middle of a theme park if he wants to but his land will then be worth F all!" The deal was struck at the original asking price!

Because we are £100million in debt and two big clubs want him. He isn't worth £12million. He certainly isn't worth £27million, which is what he would cost in wages and sacrificed transfer fee. We are not going to sell at £7million, but we will sell when the right money is offered.

Anonymous said...

Two big clubs. Liverpool are in more debt than us and Totscum are not a big club.

Straight4ward said...

To be honest, I hope Everton don't accept any offer from us for Yakubu.

What makes it doubly sweet, as far as I'm concerned is that I don't actually want him.

That aside, I love it as a bargaining ploy - 'accept our first offer because that's as good as it gets.'

i agree tottenham are not a big club.

spuds a big club ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. that just shows how much HF knows about football.

Paul said...

I can appreciate your logic but simply can't see it happening now for two reasons:

1) We won't get an offer of over £10M for a 30yr old injury prone player. Not even Spurs are that dumb.

2) The club has repeatedly stated that he's not for sale and have now confirmed in writing on the OS that his services have been 'retained'.

I'm not actually sure you still believe that he'll go now HF and are simply being stubborn and trying to save face.

You've made a very big deal about being adamant that he'll leave thi summer. Perhaps a little humility now might be less embarrassing than when he's still at WH after the deadline has passed.

Hammersfan said...

1837, have you seen Tottenham's turnover and profit? Sullivan and Gold would be laughing if we were that big. The fact is, whether you like it or not, Tottenham are one of the richest clubs in the World. That's why they can buy players like Modrich and we can't. How many trophies have they won in comparison to ourselves?

Hammersfan said...

But if they accept your first offer, you spend ther rest of your life wondering how much you overpaid!

Hammersfan said...

Paul, I've already pledged to run a thread entitled "Hammersfan was wrong" if we don't sell Parker before the window closes. I reiterate that pledge now. If we don't sell, I will have read the situation incorrectly. I still think we will sell.

Hammersfan said...

And by the way, it would suit Parker to sign a new contract as that would put him in a stronger bargaining position regarding his salary at his new club. S&G would be able to say, "The contract showed our intent but the offer was so big and Scott wanted to go..." Mind you, that contract has been on the table for more than a week now and still hasn't been signed by Parker. That's cost him £15,000 already! If he is going to stay, why not start collecting the higher salary immediately?

being a rich club doesnt make you a big club HF you div. if that was the case then man city would be bigger then man utd, real madrid and barcelona all put together. ps tottenham have won 13 trophys. not that great is it compared to man utds 58 and liverpools 54 and arsenals 31 they are wot i call big clubs. i dont want to upset you HF because i know your a tottenham fan really. but tottenham are not a big club. plus west hams fanbase is probably bigger then tottenhams.

Hammersfan said...

Wrong I'm afraid mate. Tottenham's fan base is much larger than ours.

16 major honours actually, 2 titles, 8 F.A. Cup wins, 3 League Cup wins, 2 UEFA Cup wins, 1 Cup Winner Cup win. What would we give for 16 major trophies? Tottenham were also the first club since the war to win the double. Facts, they are bastards when they conflict with opinion!

Anonymous said...

and how do you know tottenhams fanbase is bigger then west hams. have you counted them all one by one. ps i didnt say west ham was a big club did i. but i know tottenham aint a big club. so your chatting rubbish.

Anonymous said...

so are sunderland bigger then chelsea because they have won 6 league titles and chelsea have only won 4

Anonymous said...

HF, You have a brutal fan fair here. I thought we were all on the same side, seems like we got ourselves a good old French International team as a fan club, all you bloaks need to shut it, Spurs are big, much bigger than you.

Anonymous said...

sorry HF but your wrong. big clubs win leagues and european cups. tottenham have only won two leagues and no european cups. and the two leagues they won were 50 years ago. dont sound like a big club to me. in fact that sounds shite. big club my arse

Anonymous said...

notts forest have won more european cups then arsenal. chelsea. west ham. leeds. tottenham. aston villa all put together. so does that make them bigger then all them clubs put together.

Hammersfan said...

Not sure who is arguing against who here. Tottenham are a big club. They have a huge worldwide fan base and are one of the richest clubs in the World. They have also won 16 trophies, an underachievement for a big club but an achievement we would give our right arms for!

Anonymous said...

HF shut your noise you nob. tottenham are not a big club. worldwide fan base my arse ha ha ha ha ha you talk so much shite its unbelievable. tottenham are only a big club to their deluded fans and that includes you. if you love tottenham so much then why dont you go and fcuk off. tottenham are small and shit so stop chatting crap.

Hammersfan said...

Facts, absolute bastards when you are trying to spout bullshit eh guys?

Anonymous said...

you have got a nerve to call yourself a hammersfan. i dont know any true west ham fans that would praise them scummy cnuts up. wot next millwall are the biggest club in europe. your a mug mate

Hammersfan said...

By the way, our turnover was less than half of Tottenham's and if we start to talk profit...well just ask the Davids about that!

Anonymous said...

that stupid little table says chelsea are bigger then liverpool. only an idiot would believe that. oh wait a minute. hammersfan believes it. says it all really

Anonymous said...

all that table means is whos the richest club. not the biggest club you div

Hammersfan said...

No 2045, you are the mug. Millwall are not the biggest team in Europe so why would I say that? Whereas, Tottenham are the 14th biggest club in the World based on turnover. As much as it hurts, that is a fact.

Anonymous said...

man city must be the biggest club in the world now because their the richest club in the world. you really are a wolly.

Hammersfan said...

No, you div, not the RICHEST club! Liverpool are nearly broke you div, they sure as hell aren't rich! It is a measure of turnover. Where does turnover come from? Revenue. Where does revenue come from? Sponsorship, TV revenue, ticket sales and merchandising. Tottenham got the same in TV revenue and as ourselves from the Prem, they finished just 1 place above us if you remember. So where did all that extra cash come from? Playing in Europe, ticket sales and merchandising. Do Spurs charge more for a club shirt than we do? No. They sell more shirts. Why? They have more fans.

As for Chelsea and Liverpool, in the 70s and 80s, every third person was a Liverpool fan. Now every third person I meet "supports" either Man Utd or Chelsea. Plastic fans it is true, but plastic fans have Mastercard! Anyway, based on trophies won in the last 10 years, Chelsea are a bigger club than Liverpool.

Anonymous said...

so going by your stupid little table. newcastle are bigger then everton and aston villa. just look at our many trophys everton and aston villa have won compared to newcastle.

Hammersfan said...

No 2045, just because they SPEND, that doesn't mean they generate revenue! Derr!

Honestly, some of you guys are thick!

Anonymous said...

Before I comment, let me just say that I hate everything about Spurs with an absolute passion - especially their chas 'n dave, mouthy, deluded, scumbag fans.

However, as much as I hate them - they are a big club. They sell out every home game and have a waitng list of 23,000. They will fill their proposed new ground holding 60,000 and they pay more than us. We sadly struggle to sell out for home games at the moment.

They are not in the same bracket as the 'real' top four though - and I hope that they never are.

Anonymous said...

so your trying to say chelsea have more fans then liverpool worldwide. div

Anonymous said...

i think i red somewhere that west hams turnover was something like 78 million

Hammersfan said...

Yes 2102, you are getting the idea! How many fans do Newcastle have? How many shirts do they sell? How amny fans turned up to watch them either when they were in the Fizzy Pop?

Hammersfan said...

Well said 2107.

Not far off. I think it was £72million for 2009 but I may be wrong. As near as damn half of Tottenham's!

Anonymous said...

does this also include player sales. because if it does tottenham sold berbatov to man utd around about then for 32 million. so you can take that of their turnover. ps tottenham are not a big club. i dont care wot anyone says.

Hammersfan said...

2107, there are 142,000,000 Russians. How many of those support Liverpool and how many support Chelski do you think? You can bet your life that a great chunk of young Africans now support Chelsea, given Drogba and Essien's prominence in the team. 23 million live in Ghana and 20 million in the Ivory Coast alone. More importantly, young Asians have fallen in love with the game during a period of Manchester United and Chelsea dominance. They will support successful clubs. There are 1.3 BILLION people living in China, 27 million in Malaysia, 127 million in Japan, and 48 million in South Korea. Yes, I think you can safely say that there are more Chelsea supporters in the World than Liverpool supporters!

Anonymous said...

i think for a club that finnish 4th from bottom last season and has had no ambition for years and years ontil now that gets average crowds of 34 thousand like west ham do is amazing. if west ham can get a decent team together for when we move to this new olympic stadium then we could become massive.

Hammersfan said...

Nobody is saying that West Ham don't have potential but we were always a "family club" which is a euphemism for a small club. For decades we were a hobby club for two families, then when we were finally bought by business men, we were bought by bankrupts! Perhaps under the Porn Merchants we can grow!

Anonymous said...

This is a really crap blog. I wonder if we can find a Tottenham fans blog where they would be arguing the toss in favour of Arsenal being a bigger club?

Hammersfan said...

I doubt it. They KNOW Arsenal are a bigger club.

Anonymous said...

in 2005/06 season west hams revenue was 86.9 million. making them 19th in the world. i found this on the internet.

Anonymous said...

Anon don't take the bait my friend - hf is a sick man.... he enjoys that sort of stuff. The best way to cope with it is to do as I do and don't come here or post any comments.
