£4.5m for Behrami? Rampant deflation!

Remember, back in the heady days, when there were rumours of a £17m bid for Valedictory Behrami from Unreal City? Well, rumours suggest he is now worth less than the £5m we paid for him!

Behrami was the one everybody quoted when Nani was criticised on this blog. But I always maintained that the guy wasn't "all that". I always maintained that huff and puff was not a substitute for class and that, apart from energy, the Swiss "Beckham" - how laughable is that now? - brought very little to the table.

I was ridiculed and verbally abused for daring to say that Behrami was Joe Ordinary on Duracell batteries. Well, without wishing to blow my own trumpet too much, it looks like I was right, doesn't it?

Now, on to Scott Parker - who has a very limited passing range, plays with his head down so lacks vision and plays in a red mist which results in stupid tackles and shots that blaze miles wide. We should have sold him in the summer. We should sell him in January. If we keep him until the summer, we will pocket £3m tops. And is the guy keeping us up? Take a look at the table and a win percentage of 27% with Parker in the team!

NO, you are NOT right.

Firstly your opinions are based purely on speculation and secondly Berhami WANTS to leave. Anyone with half a brain knows that when a player wants to leave, then unless they are world class players you never receive their full market value.

I bet you can't wait until we get relegated so you can brag about being right about that too!

You should be ashamed at puting the success of the club behind your own ego.

I would love the club to be top of the table with Behrami performing as the new Beckham, I truly would. The trouble is, he aint the new Beckham is he? And we aint top of the table are we? So we should have sold him BEFORE he wanted to leave. And if we apply that logic to Parker...

Thank God he is not the new or any other version of Beckham! The most over-rated player on the face of the earth! It just goes to show how much you understand about football HF. I am so disappointed in you, really. With all his failings, Behrami is a much better player than Beckham ever was.

Foolish thing to say, very, very, very foolish. Man Utd, Real Madrid and A.C. Milan. Record number of caps for England. Six Premier League Winners medals. Two FA Cup winners medals. Champions League winners medal. La Liga winners medal. Supercopa de Espana winners medal. Behrami aint fit to kiss Beckham's arse!

Sav said...

Medals and caps don't make a player HF! All that it means is that the teams he was playing for were so good to win trophies despite of him.

Hammersfan said...

Absolute nonsense. Ferguson calls him one of the best players he has ever worked with and I think he has proved himself a little more than you have. This sort of stupid prejudice does you no favours whatsoever.

I am not comparing myself to Beckham. And surely, I am not trying to prove myself to anyone (especially to you). I am just expressing a true and honest opinion about the guy and the hysteria that surrounds him. And although I have disagreed with your assessment and opinion about the player, I did not call you stupid or prejudiced. But this is typical of you HF when you run out of arguments and you don't seem to have anywhere else to go.

By the way, even Faubert was a Real Madrid player and if it wasn't for Barcelona throwing the championship away in the last game of the season in his Real Madrid career, he would have made history for being part of a Real Madrid team that didn't win anything for so many years! And of course, one should not forget his superb England career. So, many trophies he collected. I don't think I am the one who speaking nonsense here. More selective perception from you HF. You seemed to have had it at the World Cup too.

Hammersfan said...

Fact is, he did win La Liga and the Spanish Cup Sav. I did not say you were comparing yourself to Beckham, I said Ferguson has more credibility as a judge than you. Do you disagree with that? Why do you think Ferguson rates him so highly?

By the way, compare England's performances in World Cup Finals when Beckham has played, with this year, when he didn't.

How mant trophies have England won WITHOUT Beckham since 1966?

Sav - I don't like Beckham, never have, think his bird is pretty rough too - I also usually agree with most of your arguments against HF. But on this one occasion your statement that "Behrami is a much better player than Beckham ever was" is plain ludicrous - sorry mate.

17:33 silliest argument yet.

Sav said...

Surely Ferguson has more experience than I. But he is also a lot more biased. He is the guy who discovered him and was his manager for so many years. Do you know many managers who speak bad of the players? I don't.

2149 answers perfectly Sav.

"So we should have sold him BEFORE he wanted to leave."

Easy to say with the benefit of hindsight HF

Hammersfan said...

Except I was saying it at the time!

I would accept 21:49's argument gladly if you do HF. Yes, maybe I am exaggerating a little bit about Behrami (although I did mention he has many failins) to make the point that Beckham is not anywhere near to what I call being one of the greats in football (e.g. Messi, Ronaldhino, Maradona as well as any good English players of the past such as Devonshire and Bobby Moore).

But since you seem to agree perfectly with what 21:49 says you should also agree with me that Beckham is grossly over-rated! I don't much like his wife either by the way (but that's besides the point).

I don't think I called Beckham a great and I've never heard anybody put him in the same bracket as Maradona, Pele, Cruyff, Moore, Beckenbaur or Zidane. Your idea of "greats" is odd though Sav. Messi may prove himself a great but he hasn't yet. Ronaldhino certainly wasn't and I think Beckham could be put in the same bracket as the Brazilian. Not as talented as an individual but made up for it with his commitment and endeavour.

To compare Devonshire with any of this lot is just daft, How many caps did he get? 8! Very good player at club level but couldn't cut it at international level.

Sav said...

Devonshire for me was one of the greatest players I had the pleasure of watching at Upton Park. I don't care how many caps or trophies he has. It doesn't really matter. I have mentioned Alan's name with the other greats just to make this point to you. You can be a great player and be practically unknown or you can also be a World idol and be crap just as, in my opinion, Beckham is. Happy Christmas!

Sav said...

I have to make a further point about your comment that Ronaldhino was "certainly not a great player". It just goes to show how superficial your assessment is.

Ronaldhino for a number of years was in a class of his own on this planet. He was the mentor of Messi and had skills at his disposal that Beckham could not even dream about in his sleep. To put the two names even in the same sentence for me is a sacrilege against football!

It's Christams Day Sav!

Happy Christmas HF. I know, I'll keep quiet! No more about Beckham from me.
