Oh Shut Up Grant!

Just listen to him!

"It was a penalty but the referee didn't see it. It could change the game but we don't want to complain," Grant said. "Manchester City were a better team than us, especially when we lost seven players that usually play. The boys are trying, that is what is important to us."

Well it may have been a penalty but does anybody believe that would have made any difference, beyond forcing Man City out of second gear? If so, where do you buy your blinkers? Did we earn a penalty? No. Did we deserve a penalty? No. Did we deserve to take anything out of the game? No. Did we even deserve our consolation goal? No. Shut up Grant you pillock. City scored three, we scored once. So, at best, the penalty would have helped our goal difference!

And as for,"we don't want to complain", how can he say that in the same breath as we should have had a penalty and we have lots of injuries? What a pillock!

And are the boys really trying? Trying our patience yes, but trying as in battling like Blackpool's players battle? Well I've seen precious little evidence of it!

Today was a real wake up call. We were poor at Sunderland last week and even poorer today. We are losing touch with the clubs above us and sinking fast. Grant is making excuses just like Zola. I want to hear, "That was crap and unacceptable" not, "The boys are trying, and that's what is important to us." Bugger trying, it's the points that are important to us. And a good starting point might be demanding that the "boys" fess up and begin playing like men!

In other news, Pardew's Newcastle beat Liverpool 3-1...even Barton scored ...

I don't know if you've seen my recent post on the org, Fanno, but I really have lost hope.

Hammersfan said...

With good reason Kareem. This is a much stronger Prem than last year and we are just as weak.

TBI said...

We need a kitson/Hartson rabbit out the hat now.

Hammersfan said...

We need Tevez on loan after a fall out with Mancini!

Kareem said...

Fanno, it's just...I feel like Dyer did alright when he came on..but he's always injured...Barrera has moments but that's it...Our players are just SO inconsistent.

I really do not know who we can sign this winter who will A) want to play for us and B) make a HUGE difference.

I don't understand.

Hammersfan said...

Ho ho ho, Tevez wants out! All I want for Christmas is an ugly Argie on a third party loan!

Sav said...

Finally! You have waken up to what Avram Grant is really about. He is even worse than Zola. At least GZ was trying to play the right way and he could motivate some (e.g. Cole) if not all the players. All I hear from Grant are excuses and we are doing fine when it is almost unimaginable how could be doing any worse than this! We are almost doomed and our great manager blames the referees and keeps telling everyone that we are making progress! This is pathetic to say the least. We need change; and we need it now!

im sorry kareem but what dyer has been doing is he dont sprint he jogs with the ball at his feet then jus kiks the ball at the other team he did it today and against sunderland and HF did you notice that parker avoided most challenges today just so he wont get suspended which i think he might aswell get a yellow because i reckon asoon as parker is out of the line up our team works together alot better as a unit and not all over the place

And then we pay another £4m in compensation! We are in the semi final of the League Cup, having beaten Sunderland, Stoke and Man Utd. It isn't his fault. He inherited an absolute mess and the players' chins were on the floor on takeover. We are going down. Let's win the League Cup and have some fun in Europe!

Mancini will be gone before Tevez!

Hammersfan said...

I don't think he will. Tevez wants away.

Zola is better than Grant FACT!!!! a certain grantozola index proves it! and don't you dare try and harp on about the cup. It's YOUR index that I refer to, the index that YOU devised to PROVE Grant is a better manager.

Hammersfan said...

The Grantazola Index suggests Zola did a better job butit takes no account for how the Prem is stronger this season. This Man City team is a perfect example of that. Compare the team we played to day with the dead rubber side that Boa scored against last season!

Sav said...

With all due respect HF, you don't make the index and then change the rules! The index is not perfect and it is not scientific as we are obviously not comparing like with like. You either argue that the conditions are different and forget about any comparisons or you do an index (like you did) and live by it!

Be that as it may, Zola (although very bad in persisting with selecting players that couldn't do the job -ie. Spector) he was a much better manager than Grant in every other respect. He brought the best out of some players (e.g. Cole), the players could die for him (all except Upson perhaps) and was playing attacking football (we were scoring goals last year at least).

Hammersfan said...

With all due respect Sav, you are ignoring the facts. We averaged just over a goal a game last season 42 from 38 games, and this season just under a goal a game. Take out the five we scored against Burley at Upton Park and the scoring ratio would be almost exactly the same! I don't remember much attacking football last season. I don't remember being on the edge of my seat expecting goals. I don't remember seeing chance after chance after chance go begging. Your memory is getting misty mate! Like Stani, you have it in for Grant.

Sav said...

But even you HF don't think that Grant can do the job this year. The only difference is that you have submitted to the inevitable. Sorry, I don't say this much, but I am with Stani on this one. I am convinced that with a positive attitude and a change in management the Club and can stay up. It is still just December for Christ's sake!

hammalot said...

Zola was a novice manager so by that alone I reckon Grant is superior. With that said however we should be throwing the kitchen sink at the problems in our squad. G&S should bring in another 5-6 coaches/shrinks to make sure our players stay focused and what have you.

Stani Army said...

HF,
Grant is panicking and now looking for excuses. When Piqs goal was disallowed for that handball...think it was Battenburg, Grant came out afterwards saying he doesnt criticise refs and that 'Mark' (first name terms) is one of the best refs in England. How crucial was that goal but Grant said nothing? He is moaning at yesterday's 'handball', which 8/9 out of 10 refs would not have given because it was unintentional and to be punished for a handball when the ball is headed onto your hand from 2 yards away when you're not looking is harsh anyway. If he had had a moan at the refs earlier in the season, they may have taken notice rather than seeing us as an easy ride.

The other day he said: "I don't think you can compare managers and teams by points."...which is crazy enough on its own, and then yesterday he said: "My job is to take points"

Premiership is stronger this season...maybe, but we...Grant, bought 9 more players this season. Grant had a full pre-season, support of the chairmen and decent money to get things right. Why are they not right HF?

And that Man City match was a dead rubber so you cannot use that game to say last seasons prem was weaker. How about teams like Liverpool? They're weaker this season.

Hammalot,
Zola may have been a novice but in which way is Grant superior? He has no qualities what so ever. Superior in age? I give you that one.

Hammersfan said...

You keep saying Grant "bought" nine new players Stani but let's look at the facts shall we?

He picked Piquionne up for £1million and Jacobsen for somewhere in the same region. Hitzlespurger came on a free and Barrera on the never never. Obinna hasn't been bought, he is on loan, and we don't know what was paid for Reid but the top estimate was £4million, and that will be in staged payments. Then there is Boffin, an understudy keeper. Ben Haim is on loan too. Who is the last one?

So, he has only bought five players, one of whom is emergency cover because of an injury to our reserve keeper. Of the four who were bought, two are absolute bargain basement signings, and two are speculative punts by G&S hoping to turn a fast buck at some point.

If we apply your reasoning, then Zola "bought" Diamanti, Franco, Da Costa, Daprela, Ilan, Jimenez, Kurucz, McCarthy, Mido and Nouble to suppliment his squad for last season. I make that 10! And what use were that lot? Da Costa was good but he was only a device to offload Savio!

You will say, "But Zola had no say" and I say, more fool Zola! And anyway, how much say has Grant had? Sullivan told us HE was ringing agents into the small hours through the summer checking availability and putting together deals.

The fact is, Grant inherited a hopelessly imbalanced squad. Tell me, why did Zola press for McCarthy and not a right back and left back in the January window? You will say that Mido and Ilan were foisted upon him (and Zola was certainly reluctant to play the most effective of the three - Ilan - for some reason) but how do you know Reid, Barrera, Hitz, Boffin and Obinna were not foisted upon Grant in the same way?

Under Zola, G&S were to blame in your book, but under Grant, it is all the Israeli's fault. And his nationality is an issue with you I am sad to say. You WANT Grant to fail it seems to me, and you are not alone in that, although you find yourself in a very unholy alliance with the BNP element of our fan base on this point.

dont forget his issues with noble

How crass HF. Remember your hissy fit when I apparently accused you of using racism? Now you're doing that very thing. It's ok though, I won't throw a tantrum but racist is one thing I am not. I couldnt care less where Grant came from. I only criticise him on his managerial capabilities. You seemed to have mixed my criticism of his management with the point I made of how he got the job. I said he got the job because of his nationality and you seemed to have taken that point and concluded that the only reason I criticise him is because he is Israeli. I expected you to be a bit more perceptible and discerning than that.

I read an article in the paper about Grant and the figure was 9 players. Even if it was 8, that's almost a whole team HF. But that's all besides the point, the point is they had enough time to be properly prepared.

Stani Army said...

As for Zola; Nani did the buying HF and under much tighter financial constraints than Grant. You want to call him a fool, that's up to you. The way I see it is that is the very reason Zola was hired, because no other manager would manage under such difficult circumstances. And he kept us up.

It's all Grant's fault because he has the support of the Chairmen and had time but he has still done nothing. Zola did not have these 'luxuries'. I supported Berkovic and Benayoun so your point of me disliking Grant only because he is Israeli is just pure frustration on your behalf.

When rumours were spreading that we would hire Grant, I was on here telling you how his record at Pompey was worse than Zola's at West Ham. If you compare the Pompey team, you will see he had very good players, better than what Zola had and he still took them down.

You dont own a brothel do you HF? And fear that criticism of your favourite customer my lead to a loss of business? :)

Stani Army said...

Fred,
Say something Fred? Speak up...you can do it by yourself you know.

There is only one 'issue', and that's you cannot take the fact when someone criticises Noble on footballing grounds (that's 'grounds' as in basis Fred, not grounds as in Boleyn, Emirates etc).

I have no personal issue with him like yo do with me. In fact, if our more gifted players had his attitude, we wouldn't be where we are. Unfortunately you need more than the right attitude to succeed.

Hammersfan said...

Not true Stani, and you know it. You called Grant a Zionist, not me. Had I called Mido a Muslim Extremist because he was Arab, you would have been on your high horse immediately, with good reason. You have also suggested that Grant was appointed and is being retained because of that old Jewish conspiracy nonsense. Antisemitic to suggest that I'm afraid, and antisemitic to label Grant a Zionist. His religion and loyalty to the nation of his birth are irrelevant so why have you brought them up?

Stani Army said...

Utter disgrace HF. If you're trying to piss me off, it won't work mate. You shouldn't just accuse people with such grave allegations.

Zionism is not the same thing as Judaism. I gave you links from the Neturei Karta website and it is obvious you have not taken heed. Mido is not a Muslim extremist though. That is the difference. Grant is not an orthodox Jew. Grant is a zionist and zionism is definitely not the same as Judaism.

Can you tell me where I mentioned an "old Jewish conspiracy"? You need to take that comment back because it is entirely fabricated by you and your stereotypes. I have never been anti-semitic. And it is quite obvious you do not know what semite means even. Arabs are semites too HF but it just proves that you have been influenced by media propaganda who have high jacked this phrase 'anti-semitic'. Calling someone a zionist is not being anti-semitic. Hahaha, what a load of rubbish.

I brought it up because it was a separate point, which you seemed to have mixed up, regarding why Grant got the job. It was a favour. The same favour Abramovic did for Grant, Gaydamak did for Grant and now our Chairmen did for Grant. Do you see?

Yes, I only get on my high horse with good reason.

You've used that old chestnut before Stani but we know the difference. Iveadinnerjacket is antiSemitic as well as anti Zionist.

Please explain why you called Grant a Zionist. What has that got to do with his suitability to manage West Ham?

You repeat the allegation in your final paragraph. You can't help yourself can you? Abrovitch and Gold are not Zionists as far as I know, so what point are you making if not suggesting a Jewish "club", echoing the old paranoid allegation of Jews looking after their own at the expense of others?
