West Ham Respect Statement

Bloody hell, this is rich. After the families of Obinna and Piquionne were racially abused - be fair, how were the missing link fans supposed to know that they were part of the West Ham family, when all these blacks look the same to them? - the club has made an official statement, reiterating the Club's RESPECT policy.

Somebody has worked hard on thinking up something for each letter but what relation do they bare to reality exactly?

R stands for responsibility for all, with Parker magically bracketed alongside Moore, Bonds and Brooking and cited as examples. Moore played 646 games for the club, Bonds 804 and Brooking 647. Parker has appeared 124 times. There's no respect in cheapening greatness. Nor is it particularly clever, in the circumstances, to have an all white list.

E stands for "England's Finest". That sounds like a slogan for the BNP! Apparently the club wants to be seen in a positive light the world over. Well, that's a tall order given Green Street The Movie. Perhaps E could have stood for "Entertainment" rather than a label that emphasises national and cultural differences. Are Ba and Hitz representatives of "England's Finest"? A bit of rethink needed here perhaps.

S stands for Sing Your Hearts Out! And don't the fans just? There were three German bombers in the air, You Dirty Northern Bastards, I'll be running round Tottenham with my willy hanging out and the Mido Shoe Bomber song have all figured prominently in the repertoire over the last 12 months. If the club are serious about a RESPECT agenda, why are those who sing these songs allowed to stay in the ground?

P stands for Pride; and Sullivan and Gold have the bloody nerve to tell us that "The Boleyn Ground is your Home from Home"! This is from the bastards who are evicting us! Anybody remember being asked about moving to the Olympic Soulless Bowl before the Board made that decision? Respect my arse! P could stand for Paolo. After all, he has his lounge and leads the chants when TV cameras are around. As a fan of Mussolini, he would be PERFECT to front a respect campaign surely?

E stands for Education is the Key! Education? In Newham? Many of the fans can't spell GCSEs, never mind pass them! Dear God, the BNP targeted our homeland of Barking and Dagenham for a reason. Watch the knuckle dragging morons respond in abusive grunts to this post!

C stands for Control your language and conduct. It could have stood for Carlton Cole, of course, in the light of his allegedly racist Tweet last week. But Control? How about the club exercise control by taking ACTION against those identified yelling racist abuse. What about the hissers who simulate the sound of gas chambers when we play Tottenham? The club can identify the culprits very easily and ban them; but that would result in loss of income!

T stands for "The way forward" which is kind of stretching the first letter idea a bit. Well here's the way forward. Identify the animals who engage in foul chants EVERY game and ban them, for life. Everybody's getting their knickers in a twist over Rooney but all he did was swear. Calling Mido a shoe bomber just because he is Egyptian is much more of a concern, given our games are broadcast around the World.

Forget RESPECT.  Get serious. Adopt "KICK THE BASTARDS OUT FOR GOOD" as the slogan!

Moronic racist pigs!

Shows what racists are, that come the weekend, they'll be supporting these very players on the pitch.

Strange how the OS makes no mention of who the racism was directed at, the families of our players by our own fans!

"isolated incident"? They're kidding themselves. I have heard or been the victim of racism at our matches 30% of the time I've attended.

i knew you would jump straight on to this HF, as everyone knows racism is your favourite subject. come on then bore us all to death again with your views about it all.

That's once then Stani.

Sorry, couldn't resist!

Why dont West Ham call the olympic stadium the BNP stadium when they get it. im sure it would go down well with about 98 percent of the fans.

HF you're one of the biggest racist i know, you always slag off white people, but always have only nice things to say about black people. now if thats not racist, then f-ck knows what is. you are a MUG!!!

Sorry to hear this story...it has no place in a modern society, these animals are a minority but a persistent minority that must be banned/wiped out.
Slightly off subject but Rooney's filthy outburst also has no place in the modern world and I hope (though doubt) the authorities treat it with the disgust I treated it with when confronted with it in the company of minors...

This may seem like splitting hairs, but Mido got the shoe bomber treatment because he bears an uncanny resemblance to Richard C Reid - the man who stuffed his Size 12s with semtex. It's offensive, but not necessarily racist.

Hammersfan said...

And he just happened to be Muslim! Looked like Reid? Reid looks more like Masood on Eastenders! Fans didn't sing the Eastenders song for Mido did they? Don't kid yourself mate, if Mido hadn't been a Muslim, he would never have been the target.

...how did you know I left after 30 minutes HF? :)

Na, on a serious note, it makes you think twice about whether you want to go back. It's hard to describe the feeling...a mixture of anger, injustice and helplessness. I have to say it's worse in the Bobby Moore stand.

HF you do know racism works both ways dont you. what gives you the right to just blame white people all the time. im sure their are loads of black people who racially abuse white people but you never seem to bring that up do you. just look in the local papers, its not hard is it.

...and Reid looks more like Michael Dawson

Hang on Stani, that's where Ironside says he sits! I'm calling in Miss Marple!

Yep 1801, I'm opposed to that racism too. But, funnily enough, if you go along to Upton Park, you will not encounter black or Asian or Jewish rascists singing foul songs about white Christians.

Blimey, anyone would think that you and BringBackCurbs really are one and the same person. Uncanny!

Watch your step Sir or I'll get thumbs down signs introduced especially for you!!!! ; }

HF, as a 65 year old pensioner who was born, bred & still lives in Forest Gate, I can tell you that in broad terms, you are right. As a white man, I know that this type of racism is still common, notably among the lumpen, ignorant white people, but also among supposedly better educated people too. And of course, don't forget the white people who are 'bored' by racism - that's a classic racist response. But racism is not just a white pehenomenon - racism exists wherever people are ignorant, whatever 'colour' they are, against people that the racist perceives are 'getting' something that he/she's not....
It's not much consolation I know, but racism has never contributed ANYTHING to civilization, anywhere. And it always dies out.

I hate racism in any shape or form, it is just unnecessary as we are all pink on the inside. The fans seriously pissed me off with this new saga.

...she won't have a hope HF. They don't like the elderly either...

...now here's a funny thing - Victor Obinna, whose family allegedly were abused by 'West ham Fans' says tonight that he heard nothing of any such incident and in any case, his family are in Nigeria at the moment.

So if there was any racism, who, eaxactly, was the perpetrator ...?

Of course, the other 'abuse' story of the game was Rooney abusing a camera, but here's a nice little diversion from that, conveniently.
