Sullivan Admits West Ham Target Has Turned Down Manager's Job

Fantastic! The gobby one has struck again, apparently announcing that the job has already been offered to one target, who turned it down, and now has been offered to somebody else who looks likely to say no too!

So anybody else who might have been interested will now know that they are the third choice!

Grant was the first choice and look how they treated him, so God only knows what backing a third choice candidate would receive! Appoint him on Thursday, interview for a replacement on the Friday!

Unless, of course, this is a smoke screen, enabling Sullivan and Gold to appoint a cheap third rate no mark based on no other viable candidates being willing to take the job! Are they really that duplicitous? Stupid question!

It feels more and more like Dowie to me!

He didn't! I don't believe he is so stupid. But what am I saying he was the one who picked and bought McCarthy and then, recruited the worst possible manager on a four year contract and then told the World that he will not be recruiting a foreign manager and don't forget Robbie Kean. No, I believe it! God help us fans!

Zola and Clarke picked McBenni. Not even Sullivan is THAT stupid!

HF - what have you done to the nice mr Dale's site? Come on, own up....

Hammersfan said...

LOL Why do you ask?

You can cross Dowie off the list. He would not be advertising himself on Sky Sports today if he was in talks.

Sounds more like MON has said no, and Big Sam is likely to do the same tomorrow. After that Chris Houghton is likely to be the hot favourite. Curbs. might also be on the shortlist.

There is also a rumour that HF was spotted in Ilford. Perhaps he has been offered the job and unsurprisingly Sullivan is pessemistic about him accepting.

Work for Sullivan and Gold, even I'm not THAT stupid!

Just being micheivious old bean - I know the very high esteem in which you hold the whtid site!

Has it gone down? Just as my counter ticks past the million mark? Shame!

What Dale and HF don't realise is that I can take their sites down any time - Mmmmwwwwwaaaahhhhhaaaaa haaaaaaa

Never mind, HF. I just saw the report on KUMB.

Sav.......he did.

Im dumbfounded by the mans absolute lack of sense here. I was actually beginning to believe my own O'Neill prediction. And the KUMB article reports the terms turned down were 50 grand per week plus a million pounds for promotion. I was expecting at least equal to the reported 3 million pounds they offered in January for keeping us up.

Billy Davies may be a capable manager, but if it is true I dont see any of the excitement needed to galvanize supporters, win back their trust, and keep a few of the decent players.

I am going to bed with the hope that the reports are wrong.

You must be over the moon your beloved counter has crossed over the 1 million clicks! Congratulations HF! I really hope (or rather I know) that makes you happy.

why are gold and sullivan telling fans of there failings it aint great p r to tell the world one manager has knocked the job back and one looks likely too sounds stupid maybe they wanna manage the club themselfs great site hf

Hammersfan said...

Cheers mate. As for managing the club, I think they did last season! I don't think Grant was allowed to make many of the decisions if any. "WE'RE SELLING PARKER NOW. DON'T RISK HIS INJURY!"

Stani Army said...

Detention Headmaster?

Quack, you stole my follow up!

Dave, does your wife know that you've been going to bed with the hope that's wrong?

I think I was the millionth Sav. You reckon HF will award me something?

I'm surprised you've not done a post thanking all the anonymous posters for their role in helping you reach that milestone HF. You know, just to rub it in.

The only newspaper with this non story is the East London Advertiser which admits it got its story from some Twit on Twatter. I find it hard to believe that the board would tell fans about salary and bonuses. Why are so many so called fans anti West Ham?

John said...

If its true they are offering £50,000 a week and a million pound bonus for promotion that would appear to be three million six hundred thousand for a successful manager to earn in a year! If they are turning that kind of money down they must be very, very rich, or consider our chances of promotion next year nil.

Sav said...

Still at it, finding excuses for Avram Grant HF? No matter how incompetent SuGo and Co. are, there is no excuse for Grant. In fact, picking and sticking with AG until the bitter end is their worst decision. But this is no excuse for AG. If they did not allowed him the freedom to work then why did he stand for it? Why did he not resign, like all self-respecting professional managers would?

Chunky said...

I wonder why their first choices are turning it down!

Sully: "ok so heres the offer. We pick the players, the team, the tactics, handle the contracts and deal with the press. Your role is to take the flack. Interested?"

What half decent manager would even consider working for these morons?!

Hammersfan said...

Sav, you mean in the same way that Zola resigned? Tell me, if somebody knifes you in the back, why would you resign and save them a compensation payment? You might think Grant is stupid but would anybody be that stupid?

Quite right Chunky!

Stani, I'll wait a bit, the anonymice are probably struggling with all those zeros, not realising it amounts to 1,000,000 plus.

Stani Army said...

Sav's right HF. You applied that argument to Zola, in that he should have resigned, but you failed to do so for Grant.

Hammersfan said...

And you argued he shouldn't! I think Grant should have resigned and claimed constructive dismissal personally. How could he lose? Well, that's probably a daft question in relation to Avram!

Stani Army said...

Hahaa! Yes!
