Faubert Costs West Ham Confidence Boosting Draw

Two games under Doctor Evil and two defeats. True, we can take some heart from pushing both Young Boys and Basel close, whilst giving a run out to lots of youngsters, but at the end of the day, both games were lost and that doesn't do a lot of good for confidence.

If you trust the OS, a number of players acquitted themselves well but our only goal was a penalty and with Nouble scoring in the first match from a corner, we haven't fashioned a goal from open play over 180 minutes. And the average of two goals conceded per game suggest that the old defensive frailties remain.

True Noble and Collison haven't played. True Nolan has only completed 45 minutes over the two games. True Hall, and Brown, and Spence and Lee have shown promise. True Stanislas and Tomkins have suggested they could have big seasons ahead of them. True Ilunga played. True Stech has looked steady. And true it is early days.

Grant, of course won all these pre season games and then look what happened. But I would feel so much better if I saw a clean sheet and a victory some time very soon!

Mind you, a 1-1 draw would have been creditable but sadly Faubert blew it by conceding a penalty in the last minute. He really is a useless cnut!

Thats what people get for moaning about the amount of players leaving but i dont see the problem when the players we have been getting rid of are all shit apart from demba ba of course

Think you will find Grant was only in charge for the last pre season game last year which we lost.
Would expect a few more new signings before the start of the season yet and dont expect the team that started today to resemble the team that starts against Cardiff. Bit of luck Faubert will have gone as well.

Grouchopower i think you will find you are mistaken and grant was in charge for all the friendlies.

Might I add HF that last year under Grant we went undefeated in preseason and look where we ended.

Why the big panic? We have until the end of August to sign players, and as you mention, HF, most of our best players haven't been playing for the most part in these matches. Maybe Big Sam is looking at his squad to see who is good enough and who isn't (Faubert isn't, we could have saved him the air fare there).

Alwish, by the end of August we will be 5 games into the season. Do you want to write those games off? The SEASON STARTS on August 5 and EVERY POINT is crucial. This concentration on when the window closes is blindly stupid. We were bottom when the window closed last August and where did we finish? Bottom.
