Capello's Gone! Come On Down Trevor Brooking!

Just as I predicted yesterday, Capello has gone.

http://thegamesgonecrazy.blogspot.com/2012/02/brooking-to-replace-capello-as-england.html

I predicted it, but I'm still in a state of shock! For once the FA have got something right. Great in qualification but nobody really wanted him in charge for the Finals. Well nobody except John Terry!

So now for the next part of the prediction: Brooking in as General Manager with Pearce as Head Coach.

As a manager Capello won everything there was to win wherever he went. He's been broken on the back of English footballers.. a tribe so full of self regard born out of their increasely sealed and cosseted world.

historically we have often lacked the intelligence to compete at the top level of international football and if that isn't enogh English footballers are mentally soggy when push comes to shove.

For most of them the king's ransom they receive for their club labours means theysimply lack the hunger or motivation to mix with the sport's true champions.

It's not an inevitable characteristic of being English as some argue; just look at our cyclists, rowers, sailors, athletes and cricketers who sweat blood for the shirt becuase international competition is simply the most important thing in their lives.

And any number of harry redknapps in the dugoout won't chnage that; its not enough to think about the world or european cup a few weeks before a tournament - its got to be the foucs of your every waking moment.

Good suggestion HF, but it won't happen. FWIW, I reckon 'Colin' Warnock would be ideal - he'd be great at the 'blame eveything else' press conference after England get knocked out.....

No - Harry will be England Manager for Euro 2012. His dog really is going to be a millionaire. Just to cheer you up HF, also expect Scotty Parker to be the new Captain.

Why is poor old Zola getting overlooked in rhe betting shortlists?

"We are all looking forward to being at the Boleyn Ground to face Southampton on Tuesday night.

The support everyone gave us against Millwall in our last game was superb and it certainly helped us in getting the points in what was a hard-fought London derby.

It will be that backing once again that will help us in what is a top-of-the-table clash – with us and Southampton both going for the same target, it is going to be a battle and your support is vital to us.

It has been said before, but a match under the lights at the Boleyn Ground is always special and we hope to get that result makes it a night to remember and the win we need to take us further along in our aim for promotion.

For Tuesday’s game we hope that if you haven’t already, you’ll get your ticket so you can be part of what will be a great atmosphere.

We appreciate the support that you give us and in return, we will be doing our very best as we did in the last home match to reward you all.

It is about us working hard to achieve this and having you all back us on the night once again as you have already done magnificently this season.

Come on you Irons!
Mark Noble"
