Birmingham Teetering On The Brink Of The Abyss

Where now for Birmingham City? Who could have predicted when they lifted the League Cup that they would be where they are now? Football is a cruel game, and whilst Hughes is being feted as a hero for saving QPR, it is sobering to remember that when Birmingham went down, they finished the season with two more points than the Hoops mustered this season. But then we know all about that at West Ham, having been relegated with 42 points and survived with 35.

It comes to something when your manager quits to take over Norwich City. Fair enough if it is Villa or Liverpool, but the Canaries? That's like your girlfriend leaving you because Snow White's dwarf Grumpy is better in bed and more entertaining company!

And who is going to fancy the Birmingham job now? The transfer embargo is still in place and the club's owner is still under investigation. Hughton wanted to strengthen the squad but the probability is that it will be weakened still further as vultures circle and seek to pick the flesh from the bare bones that Hughton so astutely assembled. Indeed, he may return to cherry pick himself.

So who are the contenders? Expect the same old faces to be mentioned. Curbishley perhaps? He has Birmingham links. Steve Bruce has no sense of dignity so may return. Zola? He would take any job going! And Dowie's face would fit because the club is an ugly mess!

Meanwhile, McLeish needs a job of course!

I cant believe the bitterness of the carling cup still lives on with you, we knocked you out get over it!! there really must be very little going on with west ham for you to write a blog about another club, muppet!!!0

The club has just published it's accounts, so hopefully we get to see what state the club is in. This would also, hopefully, list the Transfer embargo. Fans are saying they want Holloway, which isn't going to happen considering he he has a decent team in Blackpool and we wouldn't pay compo cause we can't afford it. It's going to be Lee Clark or Curbishley, I wouldn't mind either, just not Bruce, McLeish, Ince, Megson or McCarthy. I'd be happy then.

the best thing that could happen to us now is admin. get rid of the chinese jokers. start with -10. there is a group standing by to take over but wont until the can by the club for a reasonable price. your chairmen take some blame in selling out to these chinese fraudsters. no background checks on his money obviously. once new owners in place get in curbs and see us soar once more

lets go in to admin take the minus 10 points get rid of these clowns once and for all. there is a group looking to come in but wont till they can buy the club for 10 quid or so. your chairmen must take some of the blame. why didnt they do background checks on these people. as usual sullivan the dirty perv just saw the money and run. thought gold had more integrity but no. once the takeover happens get in curbs and watch us soar once more

Why are you obsessed with Birmingham city? Be content with the fact that your business-minded West Ham loving owners landed Blues in the mess they are in. Enjoy it while you can ....

there's some big wet spam chips on shoulders on this site and there shouldn't be as the clubs are very similar with the same type of working class loyal fans, not the glory hunters we both see at our neighbours.
how are you feeling about being ripped off over your 5 yr season tickets?
they were taken to court and trading standards at bcfc for similar porkies.

Carry on with your slating about Birmingham City -- but just remember, before last season started, we lost our manager, we lost pretty much all of our first team and have had to deal with a load of sh1te financial wise -- but where did we finish??? Thats right -- 4th. Where did you finish?? (with most of your squad and the full backing of your board) 3rd!!! You bottled it to finish top and called for big Sam's head after a losing streak of...what? 2 games? Most of you really are just a bunch of arrogant idiots!!!!

To be fair, I don't think I knock Birmingham here. I would be more upset reading the article if I was a Norwich fan. So why the vitriol from Birmingham fans?

Good luck to west ham they have had fair share of ups and downs. Football is about climbing heights and taking your falls and then rebuild wiser....my birmingham will be back one day very soon

Blues are totally doomed. Like any reputable manager would work for their owners. I see them going into free fall. Maybe their deluded fans should wake up.

love how you are so obsessed with us

You seem to forget we are the same as you but maybe 10 years further on. We have had those so called West Ham loving owners at Birmingham when they pledged their love for the club, wearing the shirt with with BCFC plates on their cars. But the truth is as soon as they see they can see an opportunity to make some money they will take it. It's like leaving a fox to gaurd your chickens.

Why do blues fans think that everyone is obsessed with them? It's a football blog, get over it. They are in deep deep trouble, their stadium is a mess and the atmosphere is poor, the fans are deluded and most of them are thugs. Terrible club.
