Zola Off To Shaky Start At Watford Against Wycombe

The Hornets won in the end but there wasn't much of a sting in the performance. According to GianFredo,  speaking after a narrow extra time one nil victory over League Two Wycombe Wanderers, the whole team need to "move the ball faster" but this is a familiar gripe to West Ham fans.

Lovely guy and all that, but Zola doesn't seem to grasp that ordinary players are incapable of controlling a football in the way that came so naturally to him. Time and again we witnessed West Ham striving for Zola's dream of ticky tap football but with the likes of Kovac, Spector, Behrami and Parker in the team, there wasn't a hope in hell of ever achieving it. The opposition simply pressurised us deep in our own half and attempts to pass our way out simply resulted in us rarely crossing the half way line!

Now, with respect to Watford, our players were a cut above the crop currently at Vicarage Road so what our shower found impossible is likely to prove even more so for Watford's rag bag mob of rejects and loanees. It was Zola's refusal to shift on his principles that was his undoing at Upton Park and if he hasn't learnt his lesson, this is going to be a long hard season for Watford.

Sullivan & Gold recognised that the pragmatic approach is what the Championship demands - thus the appointment of Allardyce - and, whilst Southampton demonstrated a degree of flair last season, a lot of their success was built around playing the percentages, with long balls and hit and hope crosses seeking out the prolific Lambert.

Zola needs to wise up fast. When you have a tin of beans, some mild cheddar and a Mother's Pride loaf, there's no point in trying to serve up a cordon bleu meal. Beans on toast with grated cheese suits the ingrediants so that's what you knock up and serve to the punters. Good beans on toast can be a delight and is better than some fancy arse dish that sticks in the throat when you try to eat it!

"Rag bag mob of rejects and loanees" - LMFAO, Allardyce would give his right bollock for Sean Murray.

Thanks for your concern but Watford will be fine - COYO!

a west ham team that struggled to get out of the championship thanks to a very shaky performance against a blackpool team that dominated an average side thinks that they can comment on everything football makes me laugh. concentrate on struggling to 35 points in the prem and let the hornets fans comment on their own team thanks

Guys you are acting like a spurned love!

Get over him.

Unfortunately the internet allows embarrassingly ill-informed blogs like this to be shared. Concentrate on your rag bag mob finishing 17th although I suspect you'll be down by March!

Isn't time, you grew up, let go and moved on. Zola's not your manager any more so stop wishing you had him back.

You should be worrying about your own teams survival. It's going to be funny watching the thrashings your plodding one dimensional team are going to get next year.

Why do you persist on writing about everything happening at Watford. Why don't you just concentrate on West Ham Affairs! Not once have you wrote anything positive about Watford. Focus on the mixed start of the season the Hammers are having! Idiot

He's not teaching them rocket science HF. You think if he tried something in training and could see it wasn't working he'd persist?

And I hope this ain't us!

Struggled to get out of the Championship? No we never we had 2 very good consistent teams above us.

Everyone below us were hardly a problem (except Ipswich)

As for the play off final... well we won and we're back in the Premier League and we have a better chance of staying up than if you were in our shoes. Because lets face it you're a small club with a crap support. We filled most of your ground when we visited.

So before you come on here and cry about people having an OPINION then express one yourself.. I'll call you a deluded hypocrite and be done with you.

Seriously why are do you have such a thing about Watford? The point you continually miss is that Watford's owners are nothing like what was in place at Spam during your Icelandic phase. As for extrapolating one League Cup game to high heaven....feeble. Did you know we beat Barnet 8 - 0 a few days ago, does that mean we are world beaters?.

Really you will have more than enough problems of your own this year, give them some attention and stop this unhealthy obsession with Watford.

@ ALL HORNETS FANS

Don't worry too much about HammersFan. He's not even that fond of Wet Spam. The more you comment - the more he writes. Just make sure you are grammtically correct 'cos you'll be pulled up on it else. He can spell like a truwper but that don't count.

Totally agree with you, this is quite obviously a Leeds United site.......

Whp accuse?

Oh dear, even the Watford blogs I see are getting more hits than your beloved West Ham.

Rag bag mob of rejects and loanees.

Really, I'd like to see you get loans from a club in champions league contention. Also, their not rejects. Passing football is better than the hoofball that Big Sam plays at West Ham. And you can't say that Zola's bad, cos he kept you up twice, while you git relegated a season after he left. think about that. Wait, didn't you LOSE to Cardiff on Big Sam's first match? Watford drew both games against them, and at least he won his first match. so don't you go on about shaky starts.

im still waiting for our so called legal troubles due to third party ownership complications to occur.

this blogger is nothing more than an ill informed twit, and nothing displeases me more than seeing this drivel served up in my newsnow feed.

I will write to the FA and raise the concern mate, see if I can accelerate the process for you. We signed Tevez in August and it took until May for the wheels to turn fully. Careful what you wish for!

Anybody would think this is a wet spam site - when quite clearly it isn't!!!

Go ahead. They will take one look at your letter before placing it on the scrap heap along with the other **** written by people who obviously have a chip on their shoulder.

We have done nothing wrong, we have made 6 international loans (defined by fifa as temporary transfers) from two european clubs. It makes no difference that the clubs in quesiton and us have the same owners. Udinese and Granada have been trading players for years, and now we have access to some of those players too.

Your blog is boring, bordering on the absurd and it appears that very little research goes into anything you write.

The whole bloody season. Nothing to do with FA Director Sir Trevor I'm sure. It's just the West Ham way.
